CalDAV Provider Configuration

Basic information

The app supports different ways to access online contact information. Using CalDAV is one of them. To sync your device with a CalDAV server you have to define a WebiCal which holds all the information which my app needs to access your server. You can do this by pressing the menu button on your device and select the Create new WebiCal menu item. You have to enable the "Two way sync" option (this option has to be set at the WebiCal create or edit dialog) to sync changes made on the device back to the server . Afterwards you can start a sync by pressing the Handle WebiCals button on the main screen. At the WebiCals you have to select CalDAV as the connectiont type. Below this you can choose between different CalDAV Provider because some CalDAV server software needs special workarounds. So check if your provider is available at the list, if not you dont have to worry, for the most user the preselected generic option will be fine.

The most urls here are defined to be used at the professional configuration mode. Urls which can be used at the guided configuration (autodetection of the CalDAV calendars) will be added progressively, if you need some support then please contact me and I will guide you through!

For the guided configuration (which is really simple to configure) utilize the following steps:

  • Install CalendarSync on your device.
  • Start CalendarSync
  • Press the menu button -> Select Create new WebiCal -> Select Guided Configuration (Top most button)
  • Select that you want to choose your server from the list of known vendors/server -> select your server/vendor
  • If necessary: Enter your serves domain and your username (see below which data to enter)
  • The app then creates your unique server url and you can continue by adding your Username your users Password.
  • Continue by pressing the Test Connection button -> If everything OK:
  • Press the Search Calendars button ->
  • Select the calendars which you want to sync (just click on the entry, the checkbox will be checked, you can set your accounts appointment owner email adress by pressing long on a calendar entry) and press the Configure button at the top.
  • Then go back to the start screen of the app by pressing the back button on your device, -> there you can start your first manual sync, by pressing the Handle WebiCal button at the top of the screen. Of course you can also enable the automatic background sync sync at the apps preferences.
